NAPKIN WORDS #90 2011 - Dedicated to my Brother-In-Law Mike Prevor
1. IN THE RING OF LIFE
Each day is a battle of some sort or another.
Insure that should you be knocked down one day,
you will train harder, win the following day. That
is what it is in the ring of life, you holding dear to
the idea that sometimes you win, sometimes you
lose.
The one thing you refuse ever to do, is give up the
fight!
2. LASTING TEARS
A child’s cry may be the same cry many years
later, when they are an adult, if the reason they cry
is nothing but ugly life being a constant teacher!
3. JOPLIN, MISSOURI
People of all ages, hospitals, stores, animals,
roads, trees, butterflies, hopes and dreams.
These all died in a deadly roar and swoop of
the most destructive tornado in over 60 years.
In America, nature bows her head in shame.
A giant tornado has torn our heart. All that is
left is prayer, the whisper of hope, and the human
greatness, a shout of the dare: “We shall rebuild!”
4. HOW THE TRICK IS DONE
Knowledge is the missing wisdom of sight should
you merely be looking, instead of actually seeing!
5. BETTER TO TRY
Better to try to change the world and fail most of
the time, then to change nothing because you were
unwilling to try!
6. BELLY HUNGER
Thought feeds more than rice or wheat, oats or
corn, unless you are poor, your belly empty.
At that time, thought is worthless, a dish of words
can’t cure a need for sustenance.
7. MEASUREMENTS – LOVE AND WINE
Love should fill the heart from bottom to top.
A glass of wine can be filled to the top, but
education has taught that the midway point
is a better way to appreciate its aroma, as well
as its taste.
Love has learned that its capacity has to stay
full or else it goes bad.
Wisdom for both of these subjects is in the
understanding of what space must be used
to serve yourself, to serve others!
CENTRAL PARK
Today, I served my soul, breaking open
shelled nuts to feed birds of color.
Chewing large nuts to small bits for
the smallest beaks among them.
Having listened often to the many
declarations of nature, I clicked my
tongue loudly, so a few squirrels also
could join, share, this human donation.
They scampered from trees, and far off
thickets, sometimes stopping to silently
rear, sending telepathic messages to kin
and friends....that nut man has reappeared.
Blue birds, red birds, tiny sparrows, love sick
pigeons, and always squirrels that scamper,
dart, while grabbing husks of a humane
offering, then fleeing amid whispers of
that first gentle
breeze.
