NAPKIN WORDS #55 2011 - Dedicated to Mike Prevor

1. FILLING THE BAG OF LIFE
You are the only one who can pack it with
disappointment.

Add just a little bit, it is just part of the
baggage.

Add a lot, you will carry throughout life,
the heaviest of loads!

2. LE BERNARDIN APRIL, 2011-A TREE
Life had rid itself of shadows. The buds had
given birth.

Now, it was too late for gasps of winter. Now,
there would be no pulling back!

3. CENTRAL PARK NEW YORK CITY
Trees that grew in the dark.

An idea that overcame wisdom!

4. THE WONDER OF IT
It moves, gently, so gently, you cannot see it.

You know where it was a second ago, now, it
is no longer there.

That is its mystery, that is life!

5. LESS OF LIFE
When you know nothing and accept nothing.

MORE OF LIFE
When you know nothing but want to know more.

BALANCE OF LIFE
When you figure it all out!

6. JAPAN MARCH 2011
With all my thoughts, with all my heart,
I suffer from the sadness of knowing
how the Japanese nation is suffering
from the triple disasters of a major
earthquake, a gigantic Tsunami, and
a nuclear reactor disaster, unprecedented
in all of history.

They are a great nation of great people;
let us all do what we can to ease their
current struggle, let them know they
have friends who reached out and did
something instead of keeping their hands
in their pockets, friends offering nothing
but words!

7. BE GENEROUS
If we each carried an ounce, not one of us
would ever be required to carry a pound.

Help each other lighten the load!

ZEN LEAVES

A fish swims,
it must.

A stone is silent,
it is.

A child cries,
a reason.

An adult smiles,
questions are raised.

A cricket leaps,
all see wonder.

In Zen pools, leaves
float, sink.

Drowned in storms,
breath whispers ripples
of solitude.

Tomorrow is born,
releasing today.
