NAPKIN WORDS #44 2010
1. WHY THE WARNING
A long time ago, we lived in forests, we
knew its ways.
Today, we live within walls of cement and
all around, we place signs:
DON’T STEP ON THE GRASS!
2 HUMANITY OF MORTALS
There are but few ways for us to appear
as shadows.
There are so many ways for us to appear
as brightness, to act as light guiding wisely
those shadows!
3. DO IT
To be young in these times is to know despair.
For the first time since the great Depression of
the 1930’s we have erased optimism; that the great
expectations we told our young people they would
own and cherish, they now see are not happening
for them.
Now is the urgent moment for parents and
grandparents to offer them hope, give them
refuge until things get better!
4. WONDERMENT
The beauty of a smile is that it interrupts
each face from those dark possibilities!
5. EXPLANATION
Ripples describe water in motion.
What can a pebble tell of stone?
You must watch, touch, till you learn
through your senses.
Then you can teach, whisper, learn to
depart!
6. LEARNING THE UNCANNY
Fear chases mostly ghosts.
While history chases all the rest!
7. BE OF THANKS
The only time that we do time, is when we
have the time.
Be grateful, it might never have
been!
8. REMEMBER
If you let strangers decide who you are,
you will be a stranger only to yourself!
SEWING
Love slides smoothly
into the eye of a
needle
threaded with truth,
repairing
the good.
Only those repairers
finding portions
woven
in a life filled
with anger,
hate,
find themselves
retired.
Regardless how
beautiful the
design,
if you cannot
sew through
it,
toss it away,
start anew.
