NAPKIN WORDS #29 2010

1. THE CHOICE IS UP TO US
Just because you step into a boxing
ring, does not insure that you have
to box.

You could enter the ring because you
are an announcer. Or you might be
the referee. Or a trainer raising a
victorious arm.

Always remember, just because you
enter into something, does not mean
you are going to do what others might
expect.

That choice is yours alone!

2. TRUTH
Wishing upon a star is no protection
for how you live.

That takes a different ambition.

Still, it is always wise to make a wish!

3. FUTURE MUSIC
Only you can make tomorrow a beautiful
song. For if you leave it up to other voices,
all you may hear is a gloomy dirge!

4. CONJECTURE
Theory is the great impression the
mind creates upon a blank page
of history.

From that now used page, we are able
to gain insight into so many of our
great unknowns!

5. THE GULF SPILL
We understand who will pay for our
tragedy.

What I have heard so little being spoken
about is this question:

What about the horrors that are going to
damage so many others?

6. STEPS
Time is not a stranger on the road

It is a friend you simply let pass you
by!

7. THREE THINGS TO DO IN LIFE
Live long.

Love wisely.

Go silently!

A WRITERS CHILDREN

Words flow like rivers,
think of the Arno,
Thames, our beautiful
Hudson.

Words have no guides
called riverbanks
for direction,
this way or
that.

Words flow because
each writer treats
them as if they
were infants.
Changing
them often,
by the hour,
the day, all
time that
follows.

Like all other
parents,
writers are
concerned
about
how their
children
turn
out.
