NAPKIN WORDS # 39 2010

1. SIGNAL
Fear is a sure sign that wisdom has
failed!

2. STRUGGLE OF PRAISE
The commendation of your peers is
their acknowledgement of your
strength.

You too should learn the wisdom of
commending your peers, when their
positive strength is observed!

3. SLUMBER OR NOT
The night before, I slid into depths
guarded by an attendant of spirits,
hugging noise so silently, I slept with
her flesh of pure darkness. Dreams
were had.

Last night, a disturbing demon and I held
an all-night conversation about the heaven,
the hell, to slumber or not. Both were too
polite to interrupt in the white light of night.

Only angels and spirits overheard, then
cried. Such are sleepless nights leaving
sighs upon a bed!

4. BOOM TIMES OR DOOM TIMES
When thoughts prosper, so too do people.

Then there are those other times. When all
of a sudden, the prospering people are no
longer allowed the freedom of their thought.

This has always led to revolutions, horrors,
when ultimately those no longer allowed to
think freely overthrow those in command.

The people will think. Making their ruler dead!

5. RADIATING NIGHT AWAKE
The beauty sleep of stars is daylight!

6. IMAGES
Shadows are nothing but instincts seeing
differences and at last understanding why!

7. JULY 4TH FAMILY BBQ
The red, white and blue draped proudly as
tall pines danced in soft winds of celebration.

A marching band of butterflies played music
of conversation and the glistening green grass
shuddered as bombs burst through the night!

8. COMPLEXITIES
The offering of good things to those who
don’t expect them!

AN ABSENT SON

I have heard glorious sounds
of many, music fills life
with a lilting joy

Children move to beats, they
are charged with sounds
I cannot hear

Yet love, as I peer at their
lives, is rich with tunes

Music insures echoes in
homes of their being

Generation possess speakers
playing family love

Regardless, standing by a lone
pot of morning coffee or break
dancing, going someplace,
everywhere

I smile, for though many sleep,
this one son, long gone missing,
beats to my heart

What a magical song is
progeny
